George Jecel - A Brief Biography
Director/Cameraman George Jecel (pronounced juh-CELL) has secured his place as a worldwide commercial director of highly stylized visuals, combining his trademark breathtakingly beautiful imagery with honest realism and inspiring art direction. George is prized for his uncanny ability to capture raw emotion and translate it into seamless visual elegance & the unbridled power of the professional athlete (Gatorade "Mexico" & "Fire in the Belly"/Nike "Spirit of Play") made epic through sensual, poetic imagery & hi-tech know-how coupled with an eye for the simple beauty mother earth offers (Belize "Splash"/Renault "World Champion")... These are a few of the attributes that continue to drive his career to greater heights.
Austrian-born, Jecel grew up in a professional household in Vienna. His parents encouraged him to continue in the long family line of doctors. However George had other aspirations. After graduating from the University of Vienna he immediately began his theater career, cultivating skills in drama, composition, art, and talent direction.
After catching the eye of executives at Universal Studios with a play he directed and produced, the by then widely-traveled Austrian relocated to Hollywood in the early eighties. Following a successful run, the play was bought and later developed by HBO as a series. Shortly thereafter, George made the transition into the advertising industry and signed with British-based BFCS in Los Angeles.
To date George Jecel has directed and shot hundreds of TV commercials for a legion of international brands. A partial list includes ABC, Adidas, AMG-Mercedes Benz, Boeing, Cadillac, Canon, Chrysler, Clinique, Coca Cola, Ford Motor Company, Gatorade, Nike, Sony, VW-Audi, and many others.
George Jecel has won gold awards at both the Clios and the New York Film Festival.
